First For Women $19.97

I am responding to the August 20, 2007 issue regarding breastfeeding in public. First, I have to say that I am horrified by this article. Breastfeeding is a women\'s right and a baby\'s right, and who\'s right is it to say whether a women can breastfeed her baby in public. When a woman feeds her baby, you rarely see the nipple and there is only partial breast exposed. But it is perfectly okay for girls to walk around half dressed and showing their bras and massive cleavage!!! And it is ok to go into a restroom to breastfeed. Do you know how disgusting public bathrooms are. Would you like to eat your lunch in a public restroom. Also, you stated that \"breast milk can be easily expressed and bottled\". Why? Some women can not \"easily express\" their milk, and why waste your time expressing, bottling and feeding when you can just feed!!! Do you realize how much time goes into expressing and bottling and how often you have to express to keep a milk supply just for the convience of not breastfeeding in public. You also quoted Barbara Walters \"she didn\'t cover the baby with a blanket\". I can\'t believe you printed that. Would like to eat with a blanket over your head? Did you know the American Academy of Pediatrics reccomends breastfeeding exclusively until six months and until a minimum of one year and then as long as equally desired by mother and baby. The World Health Organization reccomendations are similar but reccomend nursing until a minimum of two years of age. Breastfeeding reduces the risk of childhood and adulthood obesity which your magazine seems to focus on with \"diets\", it also reduces the risk of diabetes, asthma, allergies, ear infections, and the mothers risk of developing breast cancer, etc. I could go on about the benefits all day. This article was completely unresearched, \"disgusting\" and \"unnecessary\". Mothers are not breastfeeding in public to offend others, they are providing the best nutrition, security, comfort, and love for their babeis!!! And last, your \"poll\" about, \"At what age should children be no longer nursed in public?\" You didn\'t even give an option for \"never too old\".
